A $33,000 push in the last two days made it close but at the end of the day, The Salvation Army‘s Kettle Campaign goal of $250,000 was unobtainable this year.
Of the quarter-million-dollar goal, the Kettle Campaign brought in $245,276.35.
“I’m very happy with the way it went; I mean, we had a long 2017 with the fires and with so many people helping out we’re very pleased with the numbers we’ve gotten,” Business Manager Bill Glasgow says.
The Kettle Campaign is the biggest fundraiser of the year for the group, as it provides funding for all the activities The Salvation Army puts on for the next year.
“There is some concern, obviously, that we didn’t hit our target and we may not be able to do everything we planned for 2018,” explains Glasgow.
“However, again, this community always comes through and we’ll see what 2018 brings for us.”
This year’s total comes without the regular Tree of Lights, which was replaced by the Heroes for Hope breakfast which raised $3,377.41.
Last year, $270,000 was raised for this initiative.
