Explosion at Pinnacle Pellet Plant in Burns Lake

Three workers at the Pinnacle Pellet Plant in Burns Lake were injured in an explosion this morning.

President Leeroy Reitsmasays the fire-related incident occurred just after 8 a.m. in their drying system.

“We were in a maintenance shut down at the time of the events, so the equipment was actually shut down and the event occurred in our drying system area,” he says.

North District RCMP say three workers sustained serious, but non-life threatening injuries.

Reitsma also noted that no equipment was damaged at the time, although WorkSafeBC will be conducting a full investigation.
