The final incumbent Prince George City Councillor has announced he will run for re-election in November.
Speaking on the steps of City Hall Thursday, Dave Wilbur says his experience with numerous organizations around the community and terms served on council he says he’s qualified to continue to do the job.
“I have the track record to demonstrate that I’ve used those tools and abilities and I look forward to doing more,” he says.
“I have fingers in practically every sector of the community,” Wilbur continues. “I’m not beholden to anybody, I’m involved with social groups as well as those that would have small business grow.”
Wilbur says his platform is that he has been the “Voice of Reason” on council, over issues such as advocating for the library, against corrupt landlords, and medical marijuana grown in residential areas.
Having also served as Vice Chair for the Regional District, Wilbur says he would like to see more communication from City Hall to other groups, like Fraser – Fort George.
“I think the communication level could be improved,” he says. “Some people think the city, because we contribute 70% of the money, try to determine the course of the regional district too much, I don’t think that’s true.”
Prince George heads to the polls November 15th.
