The UNBC Timberwolves basketball squads final four games of the 2017-18 season began on the road, taking on the University of Victoria Vikes.
Of the four games played on the island, it was the men’s team who salvaged the only victory, a 75-69 beating Friday night; Saturday’s game would end in a 106-77 loss.
Terrace product Marcus MacKay led the scoring charge for UNBC, netting 34 points over the weekend; Import Vova Pluzhnikov followed with a combined 28 points.
The weekend split results in a 8-10 record for the T-Wolves, which puts them in 10th place and a firm eye on the playoffs.

For the Lady T-Wolves, they kept it close with Victoria.
Efforts, however, would come up short as the women lost both games 76-70 on Friday, and 76-64 Saturday.
Forward Vasiliki Louka led the scoring for UNBC with a combined 42 points, including a double-double on Saturday (19PTS, 12REB).
Spain-born Maria Mongomo was a close second with 34 total points over the weekend, with a double-double of her own in the second match (15PTS, 10REB).

The women’s record drops to 8-10, and remain in the playoff picture in a tie for 10th with Manitoba.
UNBC’s 2017-18 basketball season ends this week at the Northern Sport Centre, when they host University of the Fraser Valley (UFV) Friday, 6PM and 8PM, and Saturday, 5PM and 7PM.
