Tabor Mountain Ski Resort burns to the ground

According to the Prince George RCMP, fire crews are investigating a structure fire at Tabor Mountain Ski Resort.

The blaze occurred early this morning and when officers arrived, the lodge was fully engulfed in flames.

Police say the building is a total loss, but no one was believed to be inside.

It took place within the Regional District of Fraser-Fort George (RDFFG) and Director of External Relations Renee McCloskey says the whole area is still in shock.

“It’s a local business that has been around for about 30 to 40 years and we’re just thankful no one was injured.”

She adds the blaze could have a negative trickle-down effect on skiing community.

“There is certainly going to be an impact and hopefully, once the owners have a chance to assess things, we hope there is an opportunity to re-open.”

The cause has yet to be determined and police will remain on scene until fire investigators make a final decision.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Prince George RCMP at (250) 561-3300, or Crime-Stoppers at 1 (800) 222-8477.
