Council approves $180,000 to RDFFG

Courtesy Regional District of Fraser-Fort George

$181,750 is going from the city to the Regional District of Fraser-Fort George.

“Some of that money is needed to advance the larger communities and the smaller communities so it’s a sharing of wealth,” explains Councillor Frank Everitt.

“It comes into the regional district to enhance areas like Prince George, Mackenzie, or Valemount.”

The base amount totaled $141,361 but council opted in favour of the additional $40,389.

“That gives us the ability to speak on behalf of Prince George with an added emphasis around that $40,000 and those are good things,” Everitt says.

“Prince George city council has four seats on the regional district and it gives us voting power because it is pro-rated.”

As an example, Everitt says the money could go into 9-1-1 dispatch calls, as it is jointly run by the RDFFG.
