It looks like Prince George won’t get much of a break from the snow according to Environment Canada.
“We’re certainly going to see that snow for today with five to ten centimetres of snow with generally those amounts seen in Prince George and Vanderhoof,” says Ross McDonald, Environment Canada Meteorologist.
McDonald expects it to be a short burst of snowfall with it beginning later today and ending sometime tonight.
“The snow will be here for today and it will be ending tonight, it’s going to be a short burst of snowfall for today – it’s going to be a short burst of snowfall.”
The recent winter conditions can be blamed on an extended weather pattern bringing to the surface decent daytime highs but also chilly overtime lows.
“The overall flow pattern has remained in a northerly to northwesterly flow pattern aloft, this colder weather pattern that we have seen over the past week is continuing and certainly as we look forward into the future of this week and into this weekend we do see this north flow pattern continuing for the province.”
The conditions have also led to Air Quality Advisories in Smithers and Vanderhoof as well as a snowfall warning along Highway 97 through the Pine Pass.
