“Tax, spend, and tax some more”: Shirley Bond critical of BC budget

Prince George – Valemount MLA, and BC Liberal finance co-critic, Shirley Bond was not shy following Tuesday’s 2018 BC Budget announcement.

“Simply put, there is no plan to grow the economy to pay for the long list of promises made,” she explains.

“In fact, the biggest revenue generator in this budget tax increases on job creators in this province.”

The NDP government did announce it will eliminate the MSP, however, added a payroll tax the Liberal party is adamant was never mentioned before, saying it will “hammer small business”.

“Tax, spend, and tax some more. Welcome back to the NDP of the 1990’s,” Bond says.

“And remember, the sequel is always worse.”

No statements have been made on the budget’s commitments to affordable housing and childcare, or the planned investments into healthcare.
