Pro and con side of fluoridating water debated

The pro and con side of whether or not to fluoridate Prince George’s water supply was made Saturday at the Coast Inn of the North. UNBC Chemistry Professor Todd Whitcombe was on the yes side of fluoridation and says if you look at local’s teeth, you’ll see they have good dental
health.

“Who don’t have fillings, who aren’t in a position where their teeth are dropping out,” says Whitcombe, “I would suggest to you that means that they’ve got good dental health, because of having fluoridated water.”

But Doctor Paul Connett, a chemistry and toxicologist expert says using fluoride is studies done on tooth decay,” says ineffective.

“If you look at the best and biggest studies done on tooth decay,” says Connett, “you do not find a relationship between communities that are living with fluoridation, you don’t find that they’re tooth decay is better than the communities who don’t have fluoridation.”

PG residents will decide in November if they want the city to continue fluoridating the water.
