BC Lions, FortisBC team to teach energy conservation

Members of the BC Lions are heading to elementary schools throughout Prince George to teach kids about energy conservation.

Matt Bucknor and Jas Dhillon will visit six schools in total, putting on activities for kids while also teaching them ways to save energy.

“Simple tips that they might not always think about like not turning up the heat rather than putting on a sweater or a couple extra layers, things like that,” Bucknor says.

“We were talking and having a little fun, have interactive ways we can teach the kids just to save energy.”

Two schools were visited Monday, three more on Tuesday, and one on Wednesday.

Bucknor says it’s good to teach the kids about this while they’re young.

“These are lessons that they’re going to take not only from school but they’re going to take them home,” he explains.

“As long as we can use the fun ways to teach them these lessons I know it can go a long way.”

This is a joint initiative from the football team’s Lions Pride and FortisBC‘s Energy Champions programs.
