Conservative MP Todd Doherty says the 2018 federal budget is disappointing

The 2018 federal budget announcement has left some conservatives worried about the future of Canadians.

Finance Minister Bill Morneau brought forward the “Equality and Growth” budget in parliament, which will see a deficit of $18.1 billion, including a $3 billion “risk adjustment”.

The liberals didn’t announce any tax cuts, nor did they announce any new tax hikes. Something Cariboo – Prince George MP Todd Doherty says does nothing to create jobs.

“I’ve seen nothing in this document that is going to create opportunities for rural communities. Where Canadian business is competitive. Where foreign industry wants to invest in our country.”

Doherty added it’s our children and our future children who will have to pay for all this spending, with the liberals planing on going deeper in the red without a timeline to get back to black.

“It’s astronomical. It’s really, truly, concerning when we’re looking at a trillion dollars in debt in a very short period of time with no plans to get back to a balanced budget whatsoever.”

Doherty says it will be interesting in the coming days as the conservatives take a closer look into the budget.

The full budget can be found here.
