UNBC adds soccer recruit from Vancouver Island

Sarah Zuccaro of Nanaimo has committed to play for the UNBC Timberwolves in the 2018 Canada West women’s soccer season.

The 17-year-old Zuccaro was coached as a youth player by the Timberwolves current head coach Neil Sedgwick.

“I really enjoyed Neil’s coaching growing up. I think he is doing a really good job of developing a team that will be very strong in the near future. Throughout the seasons I had him coach my team, we didn’t start as a strong team, but by season’s end, we were up competing with everyone else.”

Zuccaro is a versatile player that feels comfortable in a variety of positions.

“I’ve generally been moved around. Every time I got a new coach, I would be put in a new spot. I didn’t ask for it, but I was put there and I was able to play there. I think it has really helped me,” said Zuccaro in a team news release.

She plans to study in the area of Integrated Science.

Zuccaro, who will graduate from Dover Bay Secondary in June, will join her new teammates in Prince George in August for pre-season training.
