PG MP reacts to Parliament shootings

Prince George – Cariboo MP Dick Harris avoided the shooting scare on Parliament Hill Wednesday morning, as he is home sick with the flu after a full day on the Hill, Tuesday.

“My colleagues are all safe and the staff on Parliament Hill are all okay,” Harris says.

When he first heard the news, he says he always feared Canada would come under an attack and feels this day has come.

Speaking on the soldier who was shot, Harris says it has never been the practice that those in ceremonial gear would not have loaded weapons, but he predicts that will now change.

“I can tell you, from this day on, I anticipate seeing security in a far more aggressive manner on Parliament Hill,” he says.
