WATCH: Hundreds gather to witness official opening of Prince George Indigenous Court

WATCH:

Prince George’s new Indigenous Court has officially launched in the community.

The court will be facilitated by L’heidli T’enneh Elders with a goal of rehabilitating rather than sentencing.

“The Prince George Indigenous Court office is founded on the strength of the experiences and knowledge of our people as we all have had an experience with the judicial system at one time or another.”

– Lheidli T’enneh First Nation Chief Dominick Frederick

Founder Christina Dragen is grateful the court has arrived in the Northern capital after three years of campaigning.

This is the sixth Indigenous Court to open in BC.
