The first Prince George Road Runners race of the season was held Sunday.
The Heights Fiver race is the unofficial kickoff to running season, as participants prepare for longer races later in the spring and summer.
“We’ve been growing every year, it depends on the weather. I think we had a few more last year than this year but there is a lot more snow this year,” explains Organizer Cam McNamara.
“It’s good to see a lot of familiar faces that come out every year as well as new faces.”
McNamara praises the running community for being so welcoming and inviting, even when he was a rookie.
“This was actually the first race I ever ran and I was really nervous and didn’t know what to expect, I wasn’t really a runner, I guess, and I came out and you just get embraced by all the people.”
This year’s event saw 92 runners choose between a five- or eight-kilometer trail.
