Spruce Kings’ first Finals ticket sales draw a crowd

Over 50 people lined up today at the Rolling Mix Concrete Arena (RMCA) to be the first to purchase tickets for the upcoming BCHL Fred Page Cup Finals.

The Prince George Spruce Kings will compete in the championship series for the first time in franchise history, taking on the Wenatchee Wild.

General Manager Mike Hawes says it’s great to see the team’s hard work be appreciated.

“It sure has been at a high, an all-time high. I have been here 13 years and this is the best support I’ve ever seen for our team. Our group is a hard-working group so they deserve it too, and they are fun group to watch, so I’m not surprised that the people want to come out and support this team.”

The Spruce Kings will host Games Three and Four next Monday and Tuesday, and the team is anticipating more sold-out crowds.

Hawes adds the extra support during this historic playoff run is as critical as ever.

“In junior hockey, there’s not a lot of teams that make money. So the fact we’re actually able to make a little bit of money with this long playoff run is huge for us. It costs a lot of money to run a Junior ‘A’ hockey team and we spend more time on the road than most teams in our league because our travel costs are higher.”

The series kicks off Friday night in Washington State; for more information, you can click here.
