PRINCE GEORGE SPRUCE KINGS:

Wenatchee Wild  4  Prince George Spruce Kings  0

Wild ahead 1-0 in the BCHL Fred Page Cup Final.

Spruce Kings goalie Evan DeBrouwer made 52 saves as the Wild outshot the Spruce Kings 56-25.

Jasper Weatherby notched a goal and two assists and Austin Park earned the shutout.

Weatherby now has a 10-point lead in the BCHL playoff scoring race with 33 points (14G, 19A) in 16 games.

Wenatchee improved its record to 9-0 at home in the postseason, while Prince George is 3-6 on the road.

Game Two will be played in Wenatchee tonight before the series shifts to Prince George Monday and Tuesday.

There are 56 seats available for Game Three and 189 remaining for Game Four.

In addition, 300 standing room only tickets will be sold once all the seats are gone.

The Spruce Kings office is closed for the weekend but will be open 9AM to 5PM Monday.

Lethbridge sniper Brad Morrison of Prince George had two more goals, including the winner shorthanded.

He leads the WHL in playoff scoring with 29 points (12G, 17A) in just 10 post-season games.

Morgan Geekie (15 goals) and Michael Rasmussen (10 goals) of Tri-City each have 24 points in eight playoff games, all wins.

2018 COMMONWEALTH GAMES:

Alyx Treasure of Prince George finished fourth in the women’s high jump at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Australia.

The 25-year-old Treasure had a leap of 1.91 metres.

Her personal best is 1.94.

 

MLB:

Toronto Blue Jays  8  Cleveland Indians  4

Blue Jays are 9-5 and 5-2 on a nine-game road trip.

 

NBA:

The NBA Eastern Conference champion Toronto Raptors host the 8th seeded Washington Wizards (2:30 PT) on the opening day of the playoffs.

The (59-23) Raptors set a team record for victories in a regular season.

The Wizards had 16 less victories than Toronto.

Other games today have: #7 San Antonio at #2 Golden State (Noon), #6 Miami at #3 Philadelphia (5:00) and #6 New Orleans at #3 Portland (7:30).

The 76’ers have won 16 in a row.
