Two local businesses are heading downtown to the vacant building on the corner of 3rd Avenue and Quebec Street.
The Community Arts Council and the Prince George Farmers Market are moving in, starting with the market which will hold a grand opening May 5th.
“We’re happy to have found a new location downtown and we hope that working together with the Community Arts Council might lead to a longer-term arrangement in everyone’s interest. It’s an exciting opportunity,” says Philip Myatovic, President of the Prince George Farmers Market Association.
This is echoed by CAC Executive Director Sean Farrell. He notes this could become a hub right in the middle of the downtown core.
“We’re really interested in this idea of intersectionality where the arts meets up with some other sector that’s related but different as well and see what kind of audience expansion we can accomplish from that,” he says.
“Creating a new community centre that’s all about creativity and the arts, while recognizing the arts that we all know with forward-thinking as well and see what’s new in the world with creativity arts and something where the entire community can come and get involved with.”
CAC will move in at a later time, as planning and a member engagement project is expected to continue until late this summer.
The Prince George Farmers Market will be moving to a new location in downtown Prince George at 1310 – 3rd Avenue (the intersection of 3rd and Quebec). The location is also now expected to be the future home of the Community Arts Council. https://t.co/Y4wVYb31E2 pic.twitter.com/6Sm6841bYI
