Dust advisory has ended for PG

The Dust Advisory for Prince George has ended after being in effect for five days straight.

The concentration level has risen to 83.6 micrograms per cubic metre. A normal level is 50.

This is a main concern for infants, seniors, those with diabetes, and with lung or heart disease.

Northern Health advises those with chronic conditions to stay inside and avoid outdoor strenuous activity until the advisory is over.

The City’s Clean Air bylaw also bans all opening burning until the advisory is lifted, which includes recreational fires.

The condition is being caused by road traffic stirring up material left on roads over winter.
