PG Votes 51 challenge issued by Kamloops

One Prince George City Council Candidate is working on a side campaign this election.

Trent Derrick is wanting to get 51% of PG’s population to get out and vote on November 15th.

He says this challenge was put forth by Kamloops.

“So Kamloops has really decided to promote voter turnout,” says Derrick, “and see what it is that they can do to promote it, so they decided to have a couple of cities involved, to try to install some pride in their cities and get the message out that every vote counts.”

Derrick says this is not so much a political move on his part, its just to get more voter turnout.

In the last municipal election, only 28.9% of eligible voters actually casted a ballot.
