Flyers do not plan to offer Manning a new contract

After seven years in the Philadelphia Flyers organization, defenceman Brandon Manning of Prince George will be looking for a new NHL team.

Shortly after the Flyers were eliminated (in six games) on April 22nd by the Pittsburgh Penguins, General Manager Ron Hextall informed Manning, forward Matt Read, and defenceman Johnny Oduya they will not be re-signed by the team.

The 27-year-old Manning set a career-high with 19 points (7G, 12A) to go along with 56 penalty minutes in 65 games this season.

In 207 career games with the Flyers, the former Cariboo Cougar and Prince George Spruce King, notched 43 points (11 goals) and 212 penalty minutes.

His two-year, $1.95 million contract with the Flyers expires June 30th, making him an unrestricted free agent on July 1st.
