RESULTS: More than half of Prince George receives wireless text alert

Prince George appears to be split in terms of Wednesday afternoon’s wireless alert by Emergency Management BC (EMBC).

Results from My Prince George Now’s recent survey across social media show 56% of local residents received the test notification from EMBC on their smartphone, while 44% got nothing out of a combined poll of nearly 800 votes.

The survey took place on the respective Twitter and Facebook pages.

The text system has already received mixed reviews across the province.

Common complaints among those who didn’t get the text claim their phone is either out-of-date, or not compatible unless they’re connected to wireless internet.

The quarterly emergency alert system was also sent via television and radio.

The text is set to officially launch in June.
