Trough moving through the north bringing cooler weather

Temperatures are going to be cooling down for the foreseeable future.

Environment Canada is predicting chances of showers and thunderstorms through the weekend due to a trough moving through the north.

Environment Canada meteorologist Cindy Yu says this system is bringing in mixed temperatures for the weekend.

“For today we have a disturbance moving through, so there is a chance of showers and a risk of thunderstorms in the late afternoon. There will be a couple of pauses, but tomorrow it does look like we are between two systems, possibly making it a mostly sunny day.”

Yu added going into next week we can expect to see seasonal temperatures reaching around 18 degrees, and she believes the start of June could bring back warmer weather.

“Because of this pattern change it does like at least for the next five to seven days it will be staying closer to the seasonal values. Having said that, late next week into the first week of June it looks like a ridge of high pressure is building up again.”
