NBA:
Golden State Warriors 124 Cleveland Cavaliers 114 (OT)
The Warriors outscored the Cavs 17-7 in overtime to take the opener of the NBA Finals.
LeBron James hooped 51 points in the loss, the fifth most points in NBA Finals history.
James added eight rebounds and eight assists but his team blew a golden opportunity to win at the end of regulation time.
With 4.7 seconds left and the game tied, Cleveland’s George Hill missed a free throw.
Hill’s teammate J.R. Smith, secured the rebound, but instead of taking a shot or calling a timeout he dribbled back toward half-court, apparently thinking the Cavs had a lead.
Game Two will be played Sunday night (5PM) in Oakland.

The Stanley Cup Final shifts to Washington for Games Three and Four Saturday and Monday with the Capitals and Vegas Golden Knights tied 1-1.
The leading scorer in the playoffs, Evgeny Kuznetsov of the Caps is “day-to-day” with an undisclosed “upper-body” injury according to coach Barry Trotz.
Kuznetsov, who will be a game-time decision on Saturday, has 25 points, one more than Alex Ovechkin.

CANUCKS:
The Vancouver Canucks have signed Windsor Spitfires goaltender Michael DiPietro to a three-year, entry-level contract.
The 18-year-old was selected by the Canucks in the third round, 64th overall at the 2017 NHL Draft.
KAMLOOPS BLAZERS:
The Kamloops Blazers named Portland Winterhawks assistant general manager Matt Bardsley as their new GM today.
Bardsley takes over from Stu MacGregor, who has been reassigned to the Dallas Stars scouting staff.
The move leaves the Prince George Cougars as the only WHL team without a GM.
MLB:
The Toronto Blue Jays are in Detroit for a three-game series against the 26-30 Tigers that begins tonight.
The 25-31 Jays, who did not win back-to-back games in May, are 2-4 on a nine-game road trip.
