PG parents reacting positively towards Gov’t new Child Care Fee Reduction initiative

After the government launched their Child Care Fee Reduction initiative in April, over 1,800 people have taken part in the program in the province.

UNBC’s Child Care Centre has seen 37 out of more than 100 families in Prince George register with the plan.

Kelly Thirkettle, Manager of Child Care Services, says people were happy the day care centre took part in the initiative.

“They were really thankful that our centre took the time to sign up, because it did mean some extra work administratively, but just in general people are really positive and happy this benefit is being provided to them.”

Enrolment usually cost $940 per month for children under three and $775 dollars for three to five-year-olds. This fee reduction sees $350 per month taken off for children under three and $100 for children three to five.
