Connolly one win away from bringing the Stanley Cup to PG

It wasn’t a crucial goal, but Brett Connolly of Prince George scored for the Washington Capitals in their 6-2 Monday night victory over the Vegas Golden Knights.

The Caps lead the Stanley Cup Final 3-1, and are a win away from their first championship in the 44-year history of the team.

The 26-year-old Connolly finished the scoring, his sixth goal of the playoffs, with just 69 seconds left in the game.

It came with the Caps enjoying a two-man advantage, their third power-play goal on the night.

The former PG and Cariboo Cougar had eight minutes and 11 seconds of ice time.

Connolly has two goals in the series against the Golden Knights and eight points in 23 playoff games.

The Capitals and Golden Knights play Game Five Thursday, 5:20PM in Vegas.

A sixth game, if needed, would be back in Washington Sunday night.

If the Capitals get one more victory, Connolly plans to bring the Cup to Prince George where his parents and many friends live.
