Timberwolves add size to their front court

Six-foot-one post Cevanna Carlson is joining the UNBC Lady Timberwolves for the 2018-19 Canada West basketball season.

“I loved it. It’s in BC, it’s in the North. The basketball here has been progressing, and I really want to be a part of it. It means a lot. I am super excited,” said Carlson in a team news release.

An impact player at Foothills Composite High School in Okotoks, Alberta, she will graduate this month.

Carlson considers the Northwest Territories as her home and she is a proud member of the Deninu K’ue First Nation band.

“I am representing a lot of Native kids who can’t play, and that’s who I am playing for. That is the reason I play. I think about it before big games, I think about it after big games. It’s really important to me and it is important to my family, as well.”

Carlson will pursue education in First Nations Studies at UNBC, and will join her new team in August for training camp.
