PG RCMP host Law Enforcement Torch Run

A fundraiser was held Thursday for Special Olympics BC.

Prince George RCMP put on the fourth annual Law Enforcement Torch Run and is the only detachment hosting the event in the North District.

“We can give to these young athletes who are full of vigour and energy and it’s sure nice that we’re able to get an event together like this that lets them meet their goals,” says Superintendent Warren Brown.

As police officers, Brown says it feels good to help the community through this kind of fundraiser.

“We’re fortunate that we are able to give back to the community in this way and a lot of these Special Olympic athletes that we have here, don’t have the same fortune and opportunities that kids without disabilities have and today is about celebrating that.”

The goal of the run is $6,000. The total will be announced at a later date.
