PG cyclist having strong start to season

Cyclist Callie Swan has had a busy last month and a half.

Competing in six events since the start of May, the Prince George native has finished 1st twice, 2nd three times, and most recently placed 17th at an event in Quebec.

“I’ve been racing since April and that really helps keep your speed up and gets you in that mindset of ‘you are racing now and you are no longer doing base miles, so long hours on the bike,’ so a lot of intervals are done and just keeping up with the racing so you’re getting on your peak form,” Swan explains.

The next major event for Swan is the Canadian National Championships. She has high hopes for the national stage.

“I would love to podium on the National Championships road race, the [time trial], or the [criterium],” says Swan.

“I have nine chances to get on the podium so I think I can manage.”

After that, Swan will compete at BC Superweek in July.
