WATCH: Greyhound is discontinuing all Western Canada routes

WATCH:

Greyhound is pulling out all Western Canada bus services on October 31st, which will cut 14 jobs in Prince George.

The decision comes a month after the service halted five major routes in Northern BC, leaving more rural residents with little to no transportation.

“We’ve been operating in the region since 1929 and have been in an operating deficit since 2004. We would love to maintain the service, but it’s a story we’ve told every time whether its a year ago or five years ago that we can no longer sustain the losses.”

– Peter Hamel, Western Canada Greyhound VP

Transportation Minister Claire Trevena says interim service, BC Bus North, may have to be expanded as a result of Greyhound’s cancelation.
