Environment Canada talks about recent weather fluctuation

The highly fluctuating weather we’ve been noting over the past week has an explanation.

Following a slew of cold temperatures resulting from an Arctic Chinook, the comparatively higher temperatures of the week have been the result of several different systems of air moving through the region due to the El Nino effect.

Meteorologist Jennifer Hay explains:

“So last week we had a strong high pressure ridge over the Province, we have moved back into probably more seasonal [and] typical patterns for this time of year. We tend to get those strong ridges and colder temperatures maybe later in the winter so this is maybe a little bit early”

She says with a weak to moderate El Nino phenomenon this year Prince George may expect higher precipitation levels, but also slightly warmer temperatures.

Something going on in the Prince George area you think people should know about?
