Brennan shines but Cougars fail to score in pre-season opener

In his first WHL pre-season game, Tyler Brennan was sharp in goal for the Prince George Cougars, in their 5-0 exhibition loss to the Blazers in Kamloops.

The 15-year-old Brennan played the first half and blocked 21 of 22 shots, including a save on a penalty shot.

He was selected by Prince George in the first round, 21st overall in this year’s WHL Bantam Draft in May.

Isaiah Dilaura allowed 4 goals on 18 shots in the second half of the game.

Dylan Ferguson and Rayce Ramsay combined to make 24 saves for the shutout.

The Blazers enjoyed period leads of 1-0 and 2-0.

The Cougars play their second exhibition game tonight in Kelowna.

They will meet the Blazers again on September 15th in their only home pre-season game.

The Cougars begin their WHL regular season on Friday, September 21st in Victoria with their home opener on the 28th against Kelowna.
