Spruce Kings complete weekend sweep of Chiefs

If the Chilliwack Chiefs never had to play the Prince George Spruce Kings ever again I don’t think they would mind.

The Spruce Kings completed an opening weekend sweep of the visitors on Saturday at the Rolling Mix Concrete Arena gutting out a 2-1 victory.

After a scoreless 40 minutes, the Spruce Kings jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the third courtesy of Patrick Cozzi and Sam Kozlowski who beat Chiefs netminder Matheiu Caron.

Logan Neaton made 22 saves for the victory.

Kevin Wall replied for Chilliwack in a losing cause who were outshot 37-23.

Chilliwack is winless in its last 10 regular season meetings against Prince George dating back to last season (0-9-1) and also fell to the Spruce Kings in seven games in the first round of the 2018 BCHL Playoffs.

Prince George continues its four game homestand next Friday and Saturday against the Coquitlam Express (1-1).
