A pair of candidates have announced their intent to run for School Trustee in School District 57.

Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory and Spa of the North Owner Trent Derrick is announced Friday morning.

Derrick has previous political experience on multiple levels. He has run in the federal election with the NDP, for Prince George council in 2014, and for mayor in 2008.

Derrick’s commitments, as outlined in a release sent Friday morning, surround various supports for students and the recommendation of the Truth and Reconciliations Commission.

Early Friday afternoon, Ron Polillo announced his intention to run. In a statement, he outlines capacity, catchment, and classroom as the pillars of his campaign.

Polillo has five years of experience as chairperson for the St. Mary’s School Council. He also has 16 years on the PG Crime Stoppers executive board and is a member of the PG Italian Club.
