Two Rivers Gallery receives National grant

Two Rivers Gallery in Prince George is getting some national attention.

The Gallery is set to receive $60,000 from the National Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC).

The announcement, made at the Canada Science and Technology Museum in Ottawa, said the funding will come in installments of $20,000 each year for three years. The funding will help the gallery expand its STEAM programming (science, technology, engineering, art, and math).

The gallery will also be using funds to add to the current running MakerLab schedule. For several years the gallery has held an Open Make event every Thursday, and with the grant money, they will add another every Saturday.

MakerLab is a “space to meet, learn, work, create, share and hang out”. People attending get a chance to bring projects or create them there, and utilize a 3D printer, laser cutter, woodworking tools and more under the guidance of lab mentors.

MakerLab happens every Thursday from 5-9pm and Saturday from 1-4pm at the Two Rivers Gallery.
