Junk in the Trunk is a massive garage sale at the CN Center Main parking lot that happens twice a year. According to Rachael Ryder, Waste Diversion Program Leader at the Regional District, 125 vendor stalls have already sold out for the event. Ryder says it’s the “perfect opportunity” to find new treasures. “Somebody else’s unwanted stuff may be exactly what you are looking for. As they say, one person’s trash is another’s treasure.” “Do the Right Thing and $ave the Cha-Ching” is a new component where residents are encouraged to bring in their automotive batteries, fridges, freezers and tires to be recycled. “The idea behind this new roundup is to give people the opportunity to do the right thing and properly recycle these items at no cost to them,” says Ryder. “Used major appliances, lead acid batteries and tires require special recovery or recycling processes and should not end up in the regular landfill.” Clean and empty appliances can be dropped off for recycling in CN Centre’s Gravel Parking Lot on Saturday September 29, 2018 from 9:00am to 1:00pm, Junk in the Trunk will be held at the same time in the CN Center Main Parking lot.
