RCMP building seeing a lot of perks says tenants

One year after being unveiled, the residents of the new Prince George RCMP building are seeing a lot of perks.

The building now houses police, by-law services and community policing and Constable Sonja Blom says this provides a much better layout.

“It’s a lot easier to communicate, I guess even,” says Blom, “when they are just down the hall you can just walk and do follow ups that way.”

Blom says it did take some time to learn the procedures for the new building once they moved in.

The new detachment sees officers working in a 5900 square metre space compared to the old 3,000 square metre building.

The final price tag on the building came to $38.95 million.
