High school students in Prince George will have the chance to point themselves in the right direction when it comes to their post-secondary aspirations.
Ten colleges and universities from across the province are hosting a free information night at UNBC’s Canfor Wintergarden tonight at 7 PM.
The event is being hosted by PSI-BC and administrative co-ordinator Josh Keller says parents are getting involved much earlier in the process.
“The process at looking at post-secondary, the options, the opportunities, where students fit in, what’s the right place for them that begins much earlier in high school and the parents need to have the conversation for many reasons, the least of which is the economics.”
The event gives parents and their kids the chance to ask the right questions away from the school-hour schedule.
“That kind of how we look at it. As a group, of institutions we work collaboratively for that very reason and it’s really important that parents are part of that process and now as the curriculum changes in BC throughout the high schools it’s become even more important.”
This is the fifth-year the event is being hosted in the northern capital.
Schools like Thompson Rivers, Simon Fraser, UBC, and UNBC will be in attendance.
