PRINCE GEORGE COUGARS:

Vancouver Giants  3  Prince George Cougars  2  (Saturday)

The Giants scored three unanswered goals in the 2nd period to complete the weekend sweep before 2,393 fans at CN Centre.

Joel Lakusta tallied twice for P.G., his first late in the opening period and his second, on a power play, early in the third.

It was just the Cougars second power play goal of the season in 34 total opportunities.

Isaiah DiLaura made 25 saves in the PG net in his first start of the season.

Prince George outshot Vancouver 35-28.

The 6-1 Giants improve their win streak to four and their road record to 4-0.

The 2-4-0-1 Cougars, who have dropped three in a row, play their next three games on the road starting Friday in Medicine Hat.

They also visit Lethbridge Saturday and Kootenay Sunday, Oct. 14th.

The Giants scored the only three goals of the game in a four-minute span of the third period.

David Tendeck made 24 saves for the shutout in front of 2,354 fans.

 

CARIBOO COUGARS:

Fraser Valley Thunderbirds  3  Cariboo Cougars  1  (Saturday)

First loss of the season for the 2-1-2 Major Midget Cougars.

The Thunderbirds improved to a perfect 3-0.

Same two teams meet again Monday morning at 8:15 in Abbotsford.

 

PRINCE GEORGE SPRUCE KINGS:

Victoria Grizzlies  4  Prince George Spruce Kings  3  (Friday)

First loss in six RMCA home games for the Spruce Kings, who outshot the Grizzlies 43-22 before 744 fans.

The 7-3-0-1 Spruce Kings host the 6-4 Powell River Kings on Thursday.

Paige Payne scored the UNBC goal, her third of the weekend. She leads the conference with eight goals.

The Lady Timberwolves slip to 1-6-3 on the season, which leaves them last out of eight in the Pacific Division.

The UNBC women play Saturday (11:00 a.m. PT) in Calgary and Sunday, Oct. 14th (11:00 a.m.) in Lethbridge.
