Maser slapped with four-game suspension

The Prince George Cougars won’t have Josh Maser for their weekend road trip.

The WHL handed Maser a four-game suspension following an incident early in the 2nd period during Saturday’s 3-2 loss against the Vancouver Giants.

The 19-year-old from Houston, BC was assessed a five-minute major and a game misconduct for slew-footing Giants forward Justin Sourdif against the sideboards at centre ice.

Sourdif was helped off the ice but later returned to the game.

The 2-4-0-1 Prince George Cougars, who have dropped three in a row, play Friday in Medicine Hat, Saturday in Lethbridge, and Sunday in Cranbrook (against Kootenay).

Maser has just one goal and one assist in seven games this season.

He led the Cougars in goals with 28 in the 2017-18 season.
