Local painting teacher named Studio 2880 Artist in Residence

2018-19 Artist-in-Residence Donna Morrison | Matt Fetinko, My PG Now

Donna Morrison has been named the 2018-19 Artist-in-Residence at Studio 2880.

The program helps artists launch and develop their careers through:

  • No-cost studio space at Studio 2880;
  • administrative and mentorship support;
  • website, newspaper, radio, TV, and social media coverage throughout the term; and
  • opportunities to display and sell artwork at Community Arts Council events

Morrison will draw inspiration from a recent Pentiction exhibit she participated in called eRacism.

“It really resonated with me on some of the problems we have socially,” she exlpains.

“When I’m painting in full production painting, I paint mainly about the human condition so, for me, racism is really part of the human condition.”

Morrison teaches painting at Life Lessons Fine Arts in Prince George. She says you are never too old or knowledgable to learn more.

“I’m 62 years old so a lot of people might think I know a lot. Well, compared to eternity, I don’t know much,” she laughed.

“I think we’re always learning and that’s the key, that’s where that spark of inspiration comes from.”

Morrison will have minimum one 30 day Feature Gallery Exhibit as part of the Artist-in-Residence program.
