Spruce Kings finish road trip with loss to Express

Spruce Kings in action against the Coquitlam Express | Garrett James Photography

A four-goal second period by the Coquitlam Express spoiled what would have been a perfect road trip for the Prince George Spruce Kings.

The Express skated to a 5-3 victory on Sunday, exacting some revenge following a 5-4 loss on Friday to the Spruce Kings.

Alex DiPaolo and Dallas Farrell record three assists each for Coquitlam who received goals from Chase Danol, Christian Sanda, Regan Kimens, and Josh Wildauer who netted a pair.

Ben Brar notched two first period goals in defeat, Corey Cunningham scored his fourth of the season late in the third period.

Prince George’s victory on Friday saw Dustin Manz lead the way with two goals along with singles from Nick Bochen and Ben Poisson.

Brar scored the game winner in overtime.

The Spruce Kings collected a 2-1 victory on Saturday against the Langley Rivermen with Brar and Manz lighting the lamp in that game as well.

Prince George remains third in the Mainland Division, five back of the Chilliwack Chiefs and two back of the Express with a record of 10-5-0-1.

Another three game road trip is on tap for the Spruce Kings next weekend when they travel to Trail (Friday), Wenatchee (Saturday), and Salmon Arm (Sunday).
