McConnachie and Scott eager to begin second stint at city hall

A pair of second term city councillors are ready to hit the ground running with the 2018 Civic Election in Prince George now in the rear-view mirror.

Susan Scott is one of seven incumbents back at city hall and will continue to bang the drum on a certain issue.

“I am tremendously concerned that we don’t have the proper long-term housing for seniors, people want to stay in their own home or at least their own neighborhood but the housing needs to be adaptive to changing needs.”

She is hoping for the same results as the last council and hopes the new edition is just as cordial.

“We came from very different places last time, we were able to effectively sit down and hammer things out and even when we disagreed, we were doing it with respect and it was never personal.”

Terri McConnachie is back in the fold for another four years and believes infrastructure should be at the top of the list.

“It’s essential. It’s what’s going to cost us the most money and will represent our investments as taxpayers so that moving forward will create big price tags and we have to prioritize who gets that money first.”

The veteran member of council is looking forward to the youthful energy Kyle Sampson and Cori Ramsay will bring to the table.

“You get these younger folks in they are going to bring different perspectives and ideas and solutions to issues that might not already be represented at the council table.”

McConnachie believes a person’s overall outlooks on issues changes once take a seat in one of the council chairs.

“Let’s put it this way, you’re not the same person coming out of a term at the council table than you were going in. I think there are issues that have been brought to my attention that were not on my radar, conversely, I may have brought up issues that might not have been on the radar previously.”

Both will join Murry Krause, Sampson, Brian Skakun, Garth Frizzell, Ramsay, Lyn Hall, and Frank Everitt as the new council.

Their first meeting together is November 5th.
