Buy Local Week underway in PG

Shoppers are being asked to go to their local stores during Buy Local Week.

The province is encouraging shoppers to go to the shops and stores in their areas as they continue their Christmas shopping.

Minister of State for Small Business Naomi Yamamoto says buying local is a key economic driver.

“It does lead to job creation, if we can keep money and job creation in British Columbia, it keeps people in our community,” she says. “If you buy from a local business, you add and sustain some of the character of our neighbourhoods.”

Yamamoto says buying local also builds a sense of community.

She says Buy Local Week acts as a good reminder for people doing their Christmas shopping.
