On the rebound, Louka named Canada West second star of the week

The UNBC Timberwolves are off to their best start in women’s basketball since joining Canada West.

One of the reasons is the superb play of fifth-year forward Vasiliki Louka.

The six-foot-three post from Athens, Greece is the Canada West second star of the week.

She averaged 24 points, 14 rebounds and 3 1/2 assists per game in leading the 4-0 Timberwolves to a doubleheader sweep of the visiting Winnipeg Wesmen.

UNBC won 75-68 Friday and 90-75 Saturday.

Louka leads Canada West in rebounds per game (14.5), while also sitting top five in field goals made (36) and points per game (22.8).

The UNBC women are off this weekend.

They will host Trinity Western November 16th and 17th in a meeting of 4-0 teams.
