Independent Investigation Office called to Prince George

The Independent Investigation Office of BC is being called into Prince George after an incident last night.

At 11pm on December 8th two officers were dealing with three pedestrians at 3rd Avenue and Dominion Street.

One of the three had several outstanding arrest warrants and when RCMP attempted to take the man into custody one of the officers was stabbed. The man being taken into custody also sustained what appears to self inflicted injuries to the neck.

Both men were transported to hospital and a knife was seized as evidence.

The IIO investigates officer related incidents that cause death or serious harm. The agency is now looking into the case to determine if it will fall under their jurisdiction.
