Two PG businesses among Small Business BC Awards top-5

Two local businesses have made it past the most recent cuts for this year’s Small Business BC Awards.

Both “GameQuest” and “Shiraz Cafe and Restaurant” are among the finalists for the “Premier’s People’s Choice Award.”

Game Quest Owner Kelsy Polnik says the company’s involvement in the community makes it a solid contender.

“We’ve joined Fancon, we’ve done things with the public library, they did a Zombiefest in the summer last year, so everything we can get into we’ve been trying to get into,” he says, “it’s not just ‘get our names out there’ but to have a presence in the community and bring people together.”

An example he shared of the company’s local involvement was a recent fundraiser for the Child Development Centre.

“Just seeing how happy the people that are involved with the Child Development Centre were with what we were able to raise for them, just all from local community sponsors, people stepping up and people showing up to buying tickets. [It was] a fantastic experience and something we’re hoping to do every year now.”

Winners will be announced at a Ceremony in Vancouver on February 25th.
