SD57 BOARD PREVIEW: Travel expenses, Kelly Road update, teacher recognition

More money is on the docket for School District 57’s (SD57) final public meeting in 2018.

The Board of Trustees are talking money tonight, discussing travel and meeting costs, which will include changing some of the language around what constitutes as an ‘expense.’

This will echo into the 2019 calendar year.

SD57 is also expected to give an update on Kelly Road Secondary from the Education Services Committee as the new school is expected to be complete in under two years.

The initial project was put forward by the previous Liberal provincial government.

An elementary school educator from Lac Des Bois is going to be recognized by SD57 as ‘Teacher/Librarian of the Year.’

Trustees will also approve a letter they intend to send to the Victoria legislature, Finance Minister Carole James and Education Minister Rob Fleming, in regards to the current education funding model and what is needed for the Prince George district.

These items on the agenda and more will be presented at SD57’s meeting beginning at 7PM from its Ferry Avenue offices.
