Solid turnout for tattoo marathon

Handsome Cabin Boy tattoo shop offered up some designs at a low price for charity, Friday.

The shop had a selection of designs for 40 bucks that brought crowds in to get some quick ink, with proceeds going to the SPCA.

Co-owner Katie Zammit spoke to us while she was busy tattooing a client about why that particular society is so important to them.

“It’s because those little animals don’t have anybody to speak for them and the money raised stays directly in the community,” she says. “Christmastime, a lot of people get involved with pets and animals that they eventually can’t take care of.”

Usually, Handsome Cabin Boy offers a selection of pre-conceived tattoos on Friday the 13th with a particular theme in mind, but this Friday was the 12th and Zammit says there’s no real theme this time around.

“It’s just fun things that we thought people would like and we haven’t done [an event] in awhile and we know the SPCA struggles this time of year,”

Handsome Cabin Boy says their charity days often see about 10 times their usual number of customers.

If you missed out on this tattoo spree, their next one will be held Friday, February 13th, 2015.
