Spruce Kings blitz Caps into submission

No one would have blamed the Prince George Spruce Kings one bit if they went into Friday’s game against the Cowichan Valley Capitals in a foul mood.

Less than a week, after dropping to a 5-2 decision against the Caps, Prince George exacted some revenge blanking the visitors by a 3-0 score at the Rolling Mix Concrete Arena.

Patrick Cozzi and Nicholas Poisson gave the hosts a 2-0 lead after 20 minutes beating Cowichan Valley goaltender Jack Grant.

The Spruce Kings kept coming in the second as Ben Brar notched his team-leading 24th of the season stretching the advantage to three.

The Caps were outshot 38-22, Prince George went 2-for-8 on the power-play.

Logan Neaton collected the 22-save shutout.

Prince George is a point up on Chilliwack for top spot in the Mainland Division with the Chiefs having two games in hand.

Both teams will meet Sunday in Chilliwack.
